Tunisia started strongly again in the second test, scoring two tries in the first quarter to lead 12-0 after 20 minutes. However, Uganda’s persistence was rewarded by a well-struck penalty in the 22d minute to get the visitors onto the scoreboard.
Nonetheless Tunisia’s forwards and backs were working well together and a third try, with the wing running the ball round under the posts, came five minutes later. 19-3.
The final ten minutes of the first half saw more Ugandan pressure, but Tunisia defended well, and the visitors were unrewarded with another score when the halftime whistle went.
But soon after the break Uganda did finally cross the line, Tunisia unable to defend forward pressure on their line and Uganda were back in the game at 19-8.
The next ten minutes or so were very even until a fourth Tunisian score came, under the posts, with Uganda failing to defend a ruck 5m out. 26-8.
Uganda went straight down the other end to score an almost identical try, though slightly to the right of the posts. The kick was missed by the score was now 26-13 with 17 minutes play remaining.
Uganda were starting to tire and give away penalties. In the 28th minute some great defence held up a potential fifth Tunisian try, and a minute later a final forward pass was a that prevented another score of the home team.
Three minutes later Tunisia finally got the score they had been pressing for, a forward drive piercing the line, 31-13.
Into the 35th minute and the try of the series. A quick tapped penalty was passed to a Tunisian flanker on the Ugandan 10m line, who then side-stepped at least five Ugandan players before dotting down under the posts. 38-13.
Almost from the restart came a try almost as good, Tunisia running the ball from their own 22 only just being stopped before the line, but working the ball quickly right for a seventh try. 43-13.
A now exhausted Ugandan team could now do little to stop Tunisia playing like sevens, and two more tries followed in the final three minutes of play resulting in a lop-sided scoreline of 53-13 which perhaps did not reflect the game as a whole.
